We imagine you're wondering what this site is all about. We are a photoshop contest site dedicated to having fun with photo manipulation and hoax images. We have daily contests with standardized themes. Even though we have a standard set of themes, we have a different topic for each theme weekly. You don't have to worry about nudity, boobs or porn on this site either. We do not allow that sort of thing here. You can navigate the site using the tabs at the top and bottom of the pages. If you haven't registered yet, it is free, so go ahead and register. If you have registered and are wondering what you can do next, here are some suggestions.
- Change the way the site looks. We have a few options to choose from. Go here to learn how to change the theme!
- Check out the Forums. This is the main communication area for our members. Join in on the conversation.
- Check out the contests area. (Our photoshop contests area is mostly complete. We are continually upgrading it when mashby gets bored.)
- Go to the contest area to comment and score the images.
- Just explore the site and get to know it.
- Visit our chat room. Using trillian or mIRC, the server is irc.darkmyst.org and the channel is #choppix. This walkthrough will provide you information on how to connect to it. We also installed a web-based chat room available to members only at this point.

I Can't Edit My Image?
Sure you can. To be fair to everyone though, we do not allow members to edit images after a contest has ended for submission. You can still edit images when the contest is active. However, you cannot delete any of your images at any time.
Viewing Member's Galleries
Every image you upload to a contest goes into your personal image gallery. When you view someone's gallery you can only see their images in ended contests. However, you are always able to see all of your own images. You can access every member's image gallery by using the link in the forums under their name or from their profile.
Contest Times, User IDs and Scoring
We have made more progress in the ongoing improvements to our contest section. Below are some examples.
- All contests start and end automatically at their scheduled times. All Contests start at 6am daily and end at 6pm. We will be running contests daily so there should be 3 to 4 contests open for submission and 1 for scoring every day, depending on the time. You will have 3 days to submit followed by a 24 hour scoring period. All times are shown in the contest directions.
- Your user information is hidden in the contests until after the scoring has ended. Another addition to our contests is that nobody knows who has uploaded an image except the member who uploaded it. This includes all of the staff members. Blind justice. Authors who comment on their own entry will also have their identity protected during the contest times, too.
- Our scoring system is based on everyone having the same scoring power or no weighted scoring (one member, one vote). As you all know, we have a 1-10 rating scale and the scores are averaged as scores are posted. Choppix.com is all for the equality of all members, not just a chosen few.
Scoring Images
Scoring images is one of the most important things we can do as members of this contest site. It is also one of the hardest things to do. In order to help you understand scoring we have compiled a scoring guide for those of you that are unsure of your ability to score images. The Scoring Guide can be found here. Please take a little time out of your busy day to score the images in the contests. We have tried to make it as easy as possible for you. You can show your support for the site by taking part in this area.
Contest Updates
Your stats are available on your profile page. It will keep track of your top 3 finishing images and featured images. You now can get to any contest, past or present from the calendar. Check it out. You should now receive an email when an image will be featured. Our next project is to email winners for ended contests. For now, though, just visit the site to see who wins.
