Contest Query...

Just wondering...

Is there a new contest daily, or just a few a week?...
And will there be contests that have specific directions?

At the moment, just a few a week. Contests are our biggest hole at the moment. They don't work the way we want them too. With time and effort, we'll get them working well, too. Might take a few months though. Hope you can bear with us.

We don't really have a contest schedule at the moment. Most contests do or will have a theme and specific directions. If you go back through our old contests you will see we haven't had a bunch of entries yet. But we are still young. We don't wanna beg but contest and forum participation will make or break this site.

We are in the infant stages of setting up contests since some of the contest functions are lacking. We are still working to get more functions in the contest area. We are working on better scoring, better stats keeping and putting an award system in place.  In the mean time, we are running contests for fun and for members to contribute to the site. We are in the process of building up a membership base that likes to chop and submit images to the contests. Our goal is to have a fully functional contest site that will be fun to be a part of, enjoyable to contribute to and give the sense of a real community where members have a sense of ownership, too. Don't be afraid to suggest contest ideas in either the forums or through the PM system. 

We know each other from other sites (for the most part) and all have a pretty good idea what we like in a photoshop contest site. Members are the foundation this site is being built on.

I understand completely. I was just wondering. I sometimes have a hard time trying to figure out what to chop.
For me, contests with a specific theme(like the beer one), or
contests with directions based on a particular subjects.. ie:"What will the country look like when gas prices reach 10$ /gallon?" or "Animal Hybrids"....are easier to get ideas for.

I read the faq's and #4 says,"I made a really big image, what happened to it?
The software automagically resizes any entry that is larger than 1000 pixels wide or high to a relative scale of 1000."

I have a new question.....
What is the kb/mb size limit?

250K. They won't go if they are bigger. However, images will be resized if they are more than 1000 pixels wide.

Can we upload png, and gif images, or is it only jpg's that are allowed?

yes, png's and gif's are  upload-able.
