I made this one from spare parts I had laying around. I started it the fall of 09. Finally got it done.
It's a 20 ga. smoothbore. Barrel is a .62 caliber x 36" long. The lock is a a copy of an 18 century English lock (1750-80). It has a Brown Bess trigger guard & ramrod  pipes. Has a silver butt plate I the rest of the hardware is brass.

Feel free to critique. FYI: I'm not a gun builder (slash) seller for good reason.

I'm no gun expert but it looks pretty nice to me, what type of finish do you use on the wood?

Looks like a nice work of art to me!

I can't craft real-life things, so I find other things to build, digitally of course. What do you think of that mess?

Love the gun. How does it fire?

Wow. That's sweet. I only ever did one, it was a Kentucky rifle, 33" barrel, percussion cap in 45 cal.

I'm sure it was easier to do from the CVA kit than yours was. My kit cost less than $100 20 years ago, and my craftsmanship was a bit clumsy.

Man, it sure did shoot some great 3 shot patterns though, but then again I was able to measure my 3-group powder charges at a research lab on a scale so accurate that it could weigh your fingerprint, no lie.

It was more work to file down swaged balls to that same tolerance. I had to finish them with fine emory cloth, then  furniture grade steel wool. But the patterns looked good at the state championship.

Nice work Keb.

OK. I looked at this gun & didn't like the "dirty" finish so I stripped it down & re-did it. Here's what I got now:
