I researched and found a neat way to present the voting radio buttons. It's a more visually interesting way. Simply hover over the star and the corresponding number will appear slightly above the stars. Click it to set it to said number. Click Submit Rating and voila. The whole rating radio buttons thing will then no longer appear when viewing the image, too.

Now if you can only invent some sort of a Rube Goldberg device to remind me, or wake my ass up to vote in time it'll all be peachy as hell. Shocked
I'm eating more stuff with B-1 now so hopefully memory gets better

Now that's an interesting request. A reminder email to vote. I imagine it's possible (just about anything is)! I wonder what the criteria would be? If contest is ending in 24 hours:
  • Send reminder email if user has visited the site in the last 3 days.
  • Send reminder email if user has entered an image in a contest
Automated emails is a thing of mystery to me. I guess the bigger question in my mind is how can we get members to vote at all?

With me, its mostly a memory prob with at times a bad case of timing. I generally wait til the end to vote and sometimes I get called out on emergency jobs and can't get back. The remaining 10% is confusion, like thinking I already did especially since we went to every other day. It was easier to keep track when contests were daily. And there is distractions like writing on my book. When I'm doing that there is no tearing me away to even eat.

Email reminders might be nice but I often only read email 2 or 3 times a week LOL
That's why I suggested a Rube Goldberg device. You could push a mouse into a box that triggers a ball to trip a rocket ignition thqat flies over here and explodes on the roof that frightens a chicken to fly in the window that wears a note that says, "Mash sez to vote!"

Not sure what notivates people to vote. I consider it an honorable thing. Even more honable if I vote knowing I am cutting my own throat. I do that a lot LOL I try to vote per the guidelines. If a chopper puts in some 3-6 hours he's /shes gonna get a min 7 even if he blew it. Just because the effort is there.

As much as I appreciate people putting effort into their chops instead of throwing a 10 minute collage into the mix, I don't think it should be a factor when voting. You should vote on the final image, regardless of how long it took to make.  Huh?

Okidokie Taf, thats the rules, yeah. No arguement at all.  I tend to not be so strict... sometimes.... here. I think if mom slaves in the kitchen all day but unfortunately manages to dry out the turkey, she still deserves a big hug and a kiss. That's where I am coming from.  Wink It seems 8s determine winners here at choppix so a mercy 7 doesn't seem like a real big deal. I mean if the chopper totally blows it, then you sort of have to vote accordingly but if the chop is almost there.. oh what the hell LOL It's lite, fun competition. If it is for $$$ the fin on my back pops up LOL

Then perhaps it would be better to implement a less accurate voting method. Why not dispense with scores completely and replace them with number of votes instead? The image that receives the most votes wins, or rather, is elected winner.  Smiley

I had to do a GIS on Rube Goldberg...I gotcha now:

I'm wondering what the code would look like? Might take 3 kegs of beer to interpret that in PHP.
