I post on a couple sites and notice that activity in contests is real low. Wha'ts going? Are chopperz becoming an endangered species? I enjoy this kind of site because its all in good fun but don't understand why very few people take part??

Hey kiweezr and welcome to the site. (I've been away a while.)
We don't have a very big membership base and few choppers. So, if you know anyone that likes to chop pictures give them an invite.

You could be on to something. The art of chopping seems to have hit a lull (at least here). And yeah, we don't have a lot of members.

Is it upsetting? A little. But we built this site with the concept of "make it fun". We have zero marketing dollars (we live on grass roots). We have zero income dollars. But my personal opinion is that we have a nice site.

It ebbs and flows.
With no serious money involved in purses you tend to get a more casual, hobbiest sort of folk. And without the fury and excitement of a commercially competitive environment that actually influences carreers directly, people don't take it serious enough I guess.  I mean to the point where they live for the game and the game supports the lifestyle.
I chop for you folks and if I did not I would be creating canvas paintings or murals or ...whatever.  I actually see just the opposite in the media. I'm seeing a lot of use of chops on a lot of programs from Leno to Colbert.  It's just a bit slow on this site, but that happens now and then, people get busy.

Maybe we can blame El Nino for the lack of chopperz. I chop for fun, and its nice having sites of similar minded people but I can't quite understand what has changed in the last 12 months when chopperz were everywhere and now they are a rarity. We all know the sites for the pro's which is why we come here and  similar sites to relax and have a laugh, Pro sites are too stiff and serious leaning. I actually thought sites like this would be growing as more people have photoshop but it seems to be the opposite. Cash over street cred?  I prefer the bragging rights/rites myself....introduction of cash to this game changes the rules and lowers the fun barrier. Cash = butt plugg.
