Democrats out number Republicans 3 to 1 in Massachusetts but I just drove by the center of town which is normally wall to wall Democrats during any election and I saw no Coakley supportors there but I did see about 50 Brown Supportors all holding signs and people were beeping like crazy! I can FEEL the momentum. I have mostly Democrats as neighbors some independents and a few republicans and they are ALL voting for Scott Brown! Goodbye Senate Majority, Tuesday will be history in the making!!!!!

Scenario of this whole election is the most interesting part. The state of Massachusetts was so confident that John Kerry was going to be the President in 2004 that they passed legislation requiring a special election instead of allowing the Governor to appoint a replacement should a Senator vacate a seat in the US Senate. Who was the Governor at the time? Mitt Romney. With Ted Kennedy no longer being a Senator due to his death, had this special legislation not been passed, the Governor today could have appointed a replacement. The Massachusetts government even tried to repeal their own law, but it failed due to common sense and logic. What goes around, comes around I guess.

That will be awesome--41 seneators preventing 535 to pass legislation for any arbitrary reason--maybe it is the fillabuster rulethat should be changed.

Ya it will be awesome, no longer will one party be able to do whatever the hell they want regardless of what the people want. I'd rather see gridlock in Washington and them do nothing, it costs us a lot less.

It seems to me that 59% better represents what the people want than 41%.

This is just the beginning wait till November when the not so blue states have their elections, remember, Mass is 3-1 Democrats if a Dem loses here, that means the rest of them across the country are in BIG TROUBLE. As for the 59% to 41%, I'm guessing a good 15% of the 59% are wishing they voted differently back 2008.

OK, u win, I guess progress was just too much to hope for. I'm sure the conservatives will manage our money the same way the did for 8 years and everything will turn out peachy.

A new approach to health care in the US is not change for change it self. The cost of the curent system is devistating both in terms of health and cost. Consider:
In 2006, the percentage of Americans without health insurance was 15.8%, or approximately 47 million uninsured people. Source: US Census Bureau
More than 40 million adults stated that they needed but did not receive one or more of these health services (medical care, prescription medicines, mental health care, dental care, or eyeglasses) in 2005 because they could not afford it. Source: National Center for Health Statistics
Medicare operates with 3% overhead, non-profit insurance 16% overhead, and private (for-profit) insurance 26% overhead. Source: Journal of American Medicine 2007
From 2000 to 2006, overall inflation has increased 3.5%, wages have increased 3.8%, and health care premiums have increased 87%. Source: Kaiser Family Foundation
The United States ranks 43rd in lowest infant mortality rate, down from 12th in 1960 and 21st in 1990. Singapore has the lowest rate with 2.3 deaths per 1000 live births, while the United States has a rate of 6.3 deaths per 1000 live births. Some of the other 42 nations that have a lower infant mortality rate than the US include Hong Kong, Slovenia, and Cuba. Source: CIA Factbook (2008)
About half of the bankruptcy filings in the United States are due to medical expenses. Source: Health Affairs Journal 2005
