Mundo / Hits, I agree with the thoughts on different kinds of chops. I have my favorite and it isn't the ones that are run thru multiple filters or look like they have been left out in the sun too long (burned up). I tend to like the ones that are photo-real looking. You know, when you look at it and say, "What is chopped here?" Some chops don't take a lot of added layers to achieve this but they do take some skill in masking, matching perspective and color. I still have to appreciate the fantasy chops for what they are but they aren't one I would score higher than a realism chop. It also takes some skill to do an invisible chop, restorative chop or out of bounds chop but we rarely see them any more.
I would like to make more elaborate chops that look like the real thing, I just can't seem to get motivated to spend hours on an image when I could be taking a nap.
Now to relate this post to the thread topic: I can't do it...

LOL Keb.
I love all types of chops, from the fantastical, to photo-real. But I have to agree with Keb. My personal favs are the photoreal chops, no matter what the subject is. If it makes me wonder, "WTF... Has 'snopes.com' seen this image...?", then it has my attention. Don't get me wrong, I love illos, and fantasy works, but like Mundo stated, they seem too finished or polished to be photo-real, (much like the airbrushing of magazine models' images). I also love to see seamless alterations of famous works of art. Especially the ones where I have to look up the original piece to see what was added. Then there are the photo-real creations of OOB's. I never get tired of those. I guess what I'm trying to say, is chopping contests are like a box of chocolates, no wait.....that Forrest Gump.... Chopping contests are like a grand buffet. There's always something to please everyone. I think as long as they are pron-free, then go for it! Vive la différence!

Man, am I glad everyone already did all the typing! I'm with Keb and J, photo-realistic chopping is still my favorite kind.

Wow, so many passionate and eloquent ideas presented here I feel like I am in the presence or artists. LOL Maybe therin is the point of why photoshopping has taken other paths. We are artists and artists explore. But I have to agree, I am in love with the basic form of chopping. What thrills me to this day is when I sit here looking at a chop and say, "Jesus, where is it?" LOL If you make me scratch my head, you are at the pro level, and you all have done that to me. I guess my philosophy is; create the chop in any style it demands but I lean toward the "Let me see how nuts I can make this".... probably an artistic drive leftover from the glory days when I was paid to elaborate hehe. And... many times when I did do a basic chop that was still really good I'd get creamed by choppers working in some grandiose style. Names not mentioned hahahahah. So I said, hey fella, you're not the only one tha can load bricks in your gloves! LMFAO Much more to say but gotta run. Cheers folks

OK...I've come to the conclusion that limiting entries, while possible, isn't the best idea for this site. However, I've kept some of the initial code bits in place such that when you are entering another entry in the same contest/gallery, you'll see how many you've already entered. Fun times.
