Can I just enter this picture of me?Huh?

Okay....let me clearify.
Back in the 80's I was with a rock band (God, that was fun). One Halloween due to the small stage, hot lights, cheap make-up and all the other wardrobe malfunctions that go with stage outfits, we decided to go on a simple theme. Herb Tarlek.
So, off we went to the Goodwill, Salvation Army, DAV and Value Village (which is where most of our stage clothes originated anyway) to find the polyester. Bad plaid, paisley and elbow patches were the theme and we were billed that night as The Five Neat Guys. Platform shoes if you had them (which were passe at the time). I didn't have any, so I wore some bona fide original Annie Kalso Earth Shoes. I somehow have a strange resemblance to Sonny Bono in the impromptu band photo, don't I.

So whattaya think? Can I, can I, can I?

Dude, you just made my day. That is the most fabulous story I've read in a while. Goodwill was the bomb back in the 80s (and probably still is) for authentically bad clothes. Now all you gotta do is mask out everything but you and put yourself on the altar! What part did you play in the band?

Even though I made occasional stage appearances on guitar, I was primarily the permanent sound tech. Most of the time I spent on stage though I was fixing some thing. 24 channel board, 16 channel out board monitors with 8Kw on the PA and 2Kw on the monitors. A rack full of fun toys and a 12Kw lighting system that I built the controls for myself. What a great job!!! Those days I could slither thru a packed dance floor on a dead run.

Music is the lifeblood that keeps me going and the sound tech has to be the #1 job in a band. I play the guitar on the side, but haven't played in about a year. Might have to pull out that thing and strum a few lines. These times, they are a'changin'.

You're in great company, Pelican. There are a number of choppers that are audiophiles and musicians here.  Some are even talking heads on internet radio LOL
I play guitar and mandolin, errr I should say I make a decent imposter on them. But there are some real pros floating around here.
Love the threads but can't say I'll ever have the balls to post anything of me from the period hahahahahahahahaha. Maybe if I get the old scanner re-hooked up... maybe. Thanks for sharing. Just chop in a disco ball and I think the pic will be fine LOL
